Senior Software Engineer

What will I be doing?

You will be responsible for both developing new and maintaining existing proprietary applications. This is an opportunity to use technology as leverage to support our small team size and create outcomes that are specialized to our needs. You will create programs that provide tailored functionality and better performance than off-the-shelf solutions.

You’ll work on the software that supports our business teams, including for example but not limited to accounting, order management, data ingestion, compliance, and recruiting.

This role has a schedule you can largely set for yourself, and you will not have to cancel vacations, weekend plans, etc.

What are the unique challenges associated with this opportunity?

If you are someone who is not strong with understanding or handling numbers and figures, your projects will take longer to get right, which would cut into your overall production. You will need to be able to learn new securities trading concepts. The Senior Software Engineer position normally requires at least four years of professional experience.

Could you give me specific examples of what I’ll be doing?

There is a lot of potential variety and breadth in the ways your software skills could contribute to our operation. Much of what you will be doing is proprietary and will depend on the abilities you bring to the job. One project we imagine a new hire might immediately get started on is broadening the abilities of our current accounting system to accommodate a broader portfolio of markets, assets, and third-party APIs than when we were exclusively trading US equities; another project might be post-trade analysis software; a third example would be creating infrastructure for new instruments.

What is the expected compensation range for this position?

We plan to pay a base of $250K-$350K for a hire to this role working in the New York office. Base salary is only one aspect of total compensation, which includes an annual bonus.
